Spring

Hey Everyone!

The past few weeks have really begun to feel like spring here in the UK, so I thought I would take some photos of the spring blooms to share with everyone. I think spring is one of my favourite months, along with summer, so I am very pleased and excited that winter is over. Enjoy the flowers!

Side note - I am currently on a plane flying to Nepal! I am planning on taking loads of photos and making 2-3 posts about the two week long trip, showing Kathmandu, our hike, and our charity project. If anyone is interested, keep posted! I plan to release the first one on either the 12th or 19th of April.

Body Shop Favourites!

Hey Everyone!

The Body Shop has always been one of my favourite places to go for a bit of a treat, and to find products to really pamper myself. I still love to go for that reason, but recently I have been loving their more makeup oriented products, so I decided to make a post about all of my favourite body shop products and create a full body shop "no makeup makeup" look. I wear this all the time to school as we are not supposed to wear a lot of makeup, so this would be a great option for people in a similar situation to me or who are still getting used to wearing makeup on a  day to day basis.

Body Butter - £13

The first product I am going to be talking about is my much loved body butter. I have the strawberry scent here which is very sweet and refreshing, but I also love the moringa scent, and the shea butter one for my face as I feel like having strong scents on my face can be a little bewildering. It is a thick, nourishing body cream that leaves my skin silky smooth. I use this in 3 main ways, mostly as a moisturizer after a bath or shower, then also I made a post on my lash growing tip here, this is the product I use to grow my lashes out long and curly. Finally, this is so great for helping to cure sunburns when on holiday or living in a warm climate. Basically you can’t go wrong with one or ten of these in your life.

                                 Before                                               After

The next product is a foundation, which may sound scary to an amateur makeup wearer, but this is a great place to start. Because it is a powder, it is very easily buildable, doesn’t feel heavy on the face, and looks more skin-like, not cakey. On oily skin this keeps shininess down, which is great news. I also think it has the perfect coverage for a normal day, light but still evens skin tones and conceals blemishes. Unfortunately I have yet to try a concealer from the body shop, if indeed they sell one, and I would love to know if they are worth a try. I also think that the packaging for this product is great, with a medium sized mirror that makes reapplication on the go a lot easier.

                                  Before                                               After

An alternative, or if you want a heavier look then you could also wear the body shop all-in-one BB cream underneath the powder foundation to make it last longer and have a heavier coverage. I love this stuff to pieces, I wear it everyday and it is also very natural looking without powder. It comes out as a white cream, and changes into your skin colour as you work it into the skin. I'm not sure it "matches" to my individual skin tone, but the shades work for me. I find it moisturizing, comfortable, that it lasts for hours (but not quite all day), and overall just really great. This is the shade 00, which is light for me, I am transitioning from my winter pale into my summer tan, and am currently mixing the shade 00 (my winter colour) and 02 (my summer colour), so in the picture I look a little pale but that’s because I wanted to show the true colour of the product.

If I want to make my foundation last all day when I’m at school, reduce oiliness, brighten my face, and smoothen my pores, I use the body shop Insta-Blurr. This was the first priming product I have ever tried, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I think that this is an amazing product. It is like a thick, dry gel, and it melts onto skin, and just glides over pores and smoothens the skin. I use it by melting some on my fingers and giving my full face a light coat, then I go in a little thicker on my oily patches to make sure my makeup lasts. I have noticed a visible difference in how nicely my makeup goes on and stays during the day. Overall, just amazing and I really recommend it. Also it is clear, so you don’t have to worry about shades or matching to your skin tone.

Another product that I swear by is their clear lash and eyebrow gel. I have quite thick and unruly brows, therefore I use this everyday to keep them in place. This is probably the one product that is guaranteed to stay on all day and not budge. The spoolie is plastic, and no special shape, which I think makes brow application super simple and quick. I have used this on my lashes, but to be perfectly honest I saw no difference to how they looked before and after. However, don’t let that deter you from how amazing it is for the brows, I feel like a different person without my stiff eyebrows!

After loving the body shop for so long, it felt weird not trying a hair product, so I decided to buy the argan oil spray. I don’t use this often, as I have very fine, oily hair, but if I know that I’m staying home for a day, or having a very slick hairstyle, or my hair needs some serious defrizzing, this is what I turn to. I think I need to take a moment to talk about the smell, oh my goodness please everyone go to your nearest body shop and smell their argan oil range, it is divine, so rich and nutty. I love the spray on this bottle too; it helps to keep the oiliness from getting all over the bottle, and makes application so simple. If I am using this during the day and going out, I will spray two (maybe one for short hair) spritzes onto my hands, rub them together and spread the product evenly though the lengths the night before, so my hair has time to soak up the oily goodness of the product. It can also be used as heat defense, which I have done and thought it did a good job. Every time I use this I can be promised smooth, shiny hair the next day. I have also used this on my skin, and it feels wonderfully smooth after but I prefer the feeling of the body butters as they are less oily.

Finally, the last product is their lip glosses. Here I have the shade raspberry which is a beautiful deep pink. These are not my favourite products from the store for a few reasons. 1, they are very sheer, so not much colour comes through which is so sad because I absolutely love the colour range. 2, they are incredibly sticky, which feels nice and moisturizing but isn’t great for eating or drinking. Finally, because they come in a pot your finger gets all sticky during application. I was quite disappointed with this product, but I still use it on top of other lip products to add gloss and shine, and it works well for that purpose as well as a hydrating balm.

So there you have it, a few of my long term favourites and some fairly new to me products from the body shop, and a mini review on each. As I write this, I’m realizing I have forgotten their scent range which is probably my most favourite part of the shop, so I will quickly say I love the moringa and jasmine scents. If there was anything here you would like a more detailed review on, or an essential body shop product I should try, please leave me a comment as I am very interested to know.

Austria

Hey Everyone!

I recently spent a week skiing in Austria, I stayed in a very small country town in the Tyrol area near Innsbruck called Seefeld. I do cross country, or nordic skiing instead of downhill as I find it more relaxing and enjoyable, and despite the mountains it was a great place for both advanced and beginner skiers. If anyone is thinking about trying skiing Austria is definitely the place to go, it was warm (5 degrees almost every day!), had great snow, was absolutely stunning, and the people were lovely. I went mid February, and there was still tons of snow. Definitely a good place to keep in mind when considering a skiing holiday, cross country or downhill.

Here are a few shots I took of the scenery while I was there, enjoy!

I also was lucky enough to have a day exploring the beautiful city of Innsbruck, here are a few photos I took whilst exploring the winding, medieval lanes.
